Setting Up Your First AI Chatbot

Updated March 19, 20264 sections

Create a new chatbot

Go to AI Chatbot in the sidebar and click Create Chatbot. Give it a name (e.g., "Customer Support Bot" or your business name).

If you completed onboarding, a chatbot was already created for you automatically.

Add knowledge sources

Your chatbot needs information about your business to answer questions accurately. Go to the Sources tab and add knowledge in any of these formats:

  • Website URL — We'll scrape your site and extract content automatically
  • Q&A Pairs — Add specific questions and answers (best for FAQs)
  • Text Snippets — Paste any text content directly
  • File Upload — Upload PDF, DOCX, or TXT files
  • CSV Import — Bulk import Q&A pairs from a spreadsheet

We recommend starting with your website URL, then adding Q&A pairs for anything the scraper missed.

Test your chatbot

After adding knowledge, go to the Customize tab to test your chatbot. Type questions your customers typically ask and verify the AI gives accurate answers.

If an answer is wrong or incomplete, add a Q&A pair in the Sources tab to override it.

Go live

When you're happy with the responses, go to the Go Live tab to get your embed code and deploy the chatbot on your website. See Deploying Your Chatbot for detailed instructions.
